Programs
Practical support where it matters.
We focus on women, girls and families facing financial hardship, we do this through education, maternal support and community relief.
EDUCATION | MATERNAL CARE | FAMILY SUPPORT
Financial hardship can affect a girl's ability to stay in school, a mother's ability to access care, or a family's ability to meet basic needs.
Our programs are designed to respond to some of those practical barriers.
Girls' Education & Opportunity
Nigeria has one of the world's largest out-of-school populations. UNICEF reports that 10.5 million children aged 5–14 are out of school, and girls make up a significant share of children excluded from education.
UNICEF Nigeria survey found that financial constraints were the leading reason children were not attending formal school, accounting for 54% of reported cases. - UNICEF Nigeria, 2023/24 school year
THE NEED
WHAT WE DO
For some families, the cost of keeping a child in school can become an impossible choice. TCHF works to reduce those practical barriers so girls can stay in school, continue learning and have a greater opportunity to shape their futures.
Support includes:
School fees and education-related costs
School uniforms
Books and learning materials
Educational supplies
Mentorship and encouragement
School retention support
Opportunities that help girls build confidence and think about their future
Our goal
To help girls stay in school, continue learning and have more choices about what comes next.
Safe Birth & Maternal Access
WHAT WE DO
Pregnancy and childbirth should not become life-threatening because a woman cannot afford the care she needs. TCHF helps women facing financial barriers to essential maternity and childbirth services while building partnerships that improve access to care.
Support includes:
Maternity and childbirth costs
Essential hospital fees
Emergency maternal assistance
Connections to healthcare providers and services
Other essential needs identified through the program
Our goal
To help women access maternity care with safety, dignity and less financial stress.
THE NEED
Nigeria's maternal mortality ratio was estimated at 1,047 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births in the latest UNICEF SDG assessment using 2020 data. UNICEF also reports that only 43% of births were attended by skilled health personnel in the underlying 2018 data.
Mother & Family Relief
THE NEED
Food insecurity is a major issue in Nigeria. World Food Programme (WFP) currently reports that 35 million people are facing acute food insecurity, with women and children among those particularly vulnerable.
WFP projected approximately 800,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women at risk of acute malnutrition in the most affected states.
WHAT WE DO
When a family is struggling to afford food and basic household necessities, even a small amount of support can make a meaningful difference.
Our Mother & Family Relief work provides practical assistance to vulnerable mothers and families experiencing financial hardship, particularly during difficult periods..
Support includes:
Food assistance
Essential household supplies
Support for vulnerable mothers
Seasonal relief
Community-based assistance
Our goal
To help families through difficult periods while treating every person with dignity.
HOW SUPPORT WORKS
WE START WITH PEOPLE, NOT JUST PROGRAMS.
1 — IDENTIFY
We work to understand the needs of women, girls and families who may require support.
2 — ASSESS
We consider the circumstances and determine what assistance is appropriate and available.
3 — SUPPORT
We provide direct assistance or connect people with appropriate services and partners.
4 — FOLLOW UP
Where appropriate, we follow up and document the work so we can understand what is working and improve our programs.
BEYOND TODAY
We have a bigger vision for women and children.
Our long-term vision is to establish the Hesse Women & Children's Hospital in Warri, Delta State.
We envision a healthcare facility where women and children can access quality, dignified and affordable care.
But that vision will take time.
For now, our focus is on supporting women and girls, developing strong partnerships and establishing a track record of responsible work.
The hospital is part of where we're going.
Our programs are where we're starting.
YOU CAN HELP US GET STARTED.
Our programs are only possible when people choose to support them.
